Here's a fact that blows people's minds: you can stay in Disney's luxury resort villas — the same ones that Disney Vacation Club members shell out $30,000+ to access — without being a member. Without a timeshare presentation. Without a sales pitch. And for a fraction of what Disney charges for a standard hotel room. Let me walk you through the loophole.
DVC in 30 Seconds
Disney Vacation Club is Disney's timeshare program. Members buy points ($150-200+ per point) to book stays at Disney's villa-class resorts. These aren't the standard Disney hotel rooms — they're 1 and 2-bedroom suites with full kitchens, washer/dryers, and separate living areas. Think "apartment at Disney World" not "hotel room at Disney World." Disney doesn't exactly shout about these from the rooftops, because they'd rather sell you a $500/night standard room.
The Shortcut: Rent From Owners
As DVC owners ourselves, we can offer you these rooms at a significant discount versus booking through Disney. A studio that Disney prices at $500+/night? We can often get you in for half that. A 2-bedroom villa that sleeps 8-9 people? For roughly what Disney charges for one standard room. The math is almost unfair.
The Two Properties Worth Booking
Old Key West Resort — The OG DVC resort, and still home to the largest villas in the entire system. If your family needs space (and whose doesn't?), this is it. The laid-back Key West theming is a nice break from the overstimulation of the parks, and the boat service to Disney Springs means easy access to restaurants and shops without dealing with parking.
Saratoga Springs Resort — The closest DVC property to Disney Springs, so you can walk to dinner. Five pools, a full-service spa (the only one in DVC), and if you're feeling extravagant, the treehouse villas — which are exactly what they sound like and exactly as cool as you're imagining. Kids go absolutely feral for them.
So What's the Catch?
Honestly? There isn't one. Same room. Same amenities. Same park benefits. Same everything a full DVC member gets. The only limitation is availability, which is why booking early matters. Drop us a line and we'll find your dates. The hardest part is explaining to other Disney families how you got the villa for that price.
